Guiding Principles

Leadership. Clarity. Resilience.

We believe spaces have a profound impact on our lives and should be deeply personal and foster a sense of  serenity, intimacy and joy.  In every project we serve as a steady guide through what can be a complex journey. With a well organized process we bring clarity to decisions, structure to process and empathy to the entire experience.  Our strength lies in balancing sensitivity with purpose, helping you move forward with confidence while staying true to what matters most.

People first, always.

At the heart of everything we do is a commitment to human connection. We come to the table without preconceived ideas prepared above all to listen. Building long-lasting, respectful relationships—with our clients, collaborators, and craftspeople—fueled by transparency, trust, and shared values. Whether across the street or across the country, we approach every project with care, believing that great design comes from genuine collaboration.

Imagination grounded in expertise.

Creativity is not just thinking outside the box—it's about understanding the box and knowing how to transform it in innovative ways. With years of study and hands-on experience, we approach every challenge with curiosity and discipline. Our process blends innovation and practicality, shaping spaces that are expressive, refined, and purpose-built for the lives they hold.

Learning from the past, designing for what’s next.

Every space holds the potential for a story—whether it's rooted in history or yet to be written. Our work is shaped by curiosity: uncovering the layers of existing buildings, understanding how people live today, and envisioning what’s possible for spaces that have not yet been built. This thoughtful exploration reveals opportunities to preserve, adapt, or create entirely new narratives. It allows us to design with intention—rooted in context, guided by meaning, and open to the future.

‘To build a house is one thing to make a home is quite another’
– Louis L’amour

About me

I come from a family of makers. Artists, gardeners, woodworkers, winemakers, and exceptional home cooks. We were always doing; building, learning, creating. When we weren't we were sailing, skiing or traveling to see family. These curious and industrious people shaped my world view and the travel led to a lifetime love of exploration.

I attended Parsons School of Design for Fine Art & The Southern California School of Architecture (Sci-Arc). A trip to Sri Lanka exposed me to the Architecture of Geoffery Bawa and his spaces left an indelible impression. His built response to the environment, the warmth of the natural building materials, the scale of his spaces and the dynamic play of light and shadow sparked an interior interest that has endured.

After time in New Haven with Cesar Pelli & Assoc. I moved back to the Pacific Northwest, lived on site and managed the building of a Timber Frame home for clients with two disparate ideas of what a home should be. This hands-on experience taught me so much from the practical; understanding costs, budgets and details to the ephemeral, formulating ideas on home and how to employ the rules of design to successfully bridge the aesthetic differences partners naturally have.
